Splash About are proud sponsors of Tommy's Splashathon 2009, which takes place annualy in pools around the country in June. Splashathon is a simple event for babies, toddlers and young children. They are sponsored for swimming or splashing in their local swimming pool and all money raised goes to Tommy's, the baby charity. After 10 successful years, Tommy’s is hoping this summer’s event, will raise over £100,000 to fund research into the causes of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth.

Desri Goodwin from Splash About, said: "We're delighted to be supporting such a fantastic initiative. Splashathon is not only a fun way to introduce children to the pool, but it will help raise money for a really important cause too."

Tommy's, the baby charity, exists to ensure every baby is given the best chance of being born healthy. Tommy’s believes that it is unacceptable that one in four women loses a baby every year and is helping to the find the answers through research and helping women to know more. By 2030 Tommy’s wants to halve the number of babies who die during pregnancy or birth.

In addition to its research, Tommy’s runs a pregnancy information service – midwives are available to answer any pregnancy questions by telephone or email, as well as providing pregnancy publications free of charge. Tommy’s provides support to over one hundred families each week including pregnant women, their partners friends and families, and women trying to conceive. If you have a pregnancy question or concern contact a Tommy’s midwife on 0870 777 30 60 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) or email info@tommys.org
